This past week, I experienced something that forever shifted my perspective on healing and spirituality: a past life regression with a hypnotist. It’s not something I ever thought I’d try, let alone talk about publicly, but the experience was so profound that I feel compelled to share its transformative power.
For the past year, I’ve been plagued by recurring nightmares. These aren’t ordinary nightmares—they feel visceral, like memories. Which is also what I believe them to be—and oftentimes it’s hard for me to discern between this lifetime and those of one specific other lifetime. I also remember other lifetimes but not as vividly. These nightmares became intense enough that they started to affect my daily life. A spiritual mentor suggested the possibility that these dreams could be echoes of a past life, and encouraged me to again try past life regression as a way to confront and heal this lingering trauma.
Initially, I was skeptical and more than a little scared. Until recently, I hadn’t given much thought to concepts like past lives or intuition, let alone explored them personally. Honestly, I didn’t even know if I believed in them. Talking about these topics can feel intimidating; they’re often shrouded in stigma or dismissed as "out there." However, as someone who has embraced self-discovery and healing in many forms, I decided to take the leap and explore what felt like uncharted territory.
The Regression Experience
The session itself was nothing short of extraordinary. Though I secretly hoped to be transported to a different lifetime, one free of the pain I’d been dreaming about, the process took me straight into the heart of it. I found myself revisiting the same life that had haunted me in my nightmares—a life filled with grief, loss, and pain for both myself and others I love dearly in this life.
At first, I resisted. “Not again,” I thought. “Why this life?” But as the session progressed, I was taken to six different scenes from that lifetime—moments I hadn’t seen before. I was also able to see my death and a loved one's death in a very peaceful way this time. This broader perspective allowed me to view the experience through a new lens. I began to understand the life’s challenges and losses not just as sources of pain, but as catalysts for growth and love. For the first time, I felt a sense of peace and closure that had eluded me for years.
Why Past Life Regression Works
Past life regression is more than a journey into the unknown; it’s a deeply therapeutic process. By exploring past lives, we can:
Heal Lingering Trauma: Address unresolved emotions or experiences carried over from previous lifetimes.
Break Patterns: Recognize recurring themes in our lives and take steps to break unhelpful cycles.
Cultivate Compassion: Gain insight into relationships and events, fostering empathy for ourselves and others.
Rediscover Strengths: Uncover hidden strengths and lessons from past experiences that can guide us in this life.
What makes past life regression so impactful is its ability to integrate with other healing modalities. It’s not meant to replace therapy, mindfulness, or other spiritual practices, but to complement them. Together, these tools can create a holistic approach to self-discovery and growth.
Let’s Normalize the Conversation
One of the most challenging aspects of sharing this story is the fear of judgment. Topics like past lives, intuition, and spiritual healing often feel taboo in our society. But why should they? These beliefs and practices are as valid and transformative as any other path to healing.
Talking openly about intuition and past life experiences can help normalize these conversations. It’s okay to explore the unknown. It’s okay to believe in things others might not understand. Spiritual growth is deeply personal, and there’s no one-size-fits-all approach.
Moving Forward with Peace
This experience has brought me a sense of calm and clarity that I hadn’t thought possible. I’m so grateful for this opportunity to heal. Last night, for the first time, I dreamt about that painful past life, but this time all I saw was me dancing and laughing with my loved ones nearby. So much love. I notice a huge shift in me this week. My therapist noticed the same. So did my family. I have a peace, calm, and clarity that I have never felt before. No matter what I believe or think, I’m grateful for feeling better than I have in a long time and that I have many different healing modalities that help me grow. More importantly, I’ve learned that healing requires us to trust ourselves and lean into our vulnerability.
If you’ve ever felt drawn to explore past life regression or other spiritual practices, I encourage you to give them a try. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. You might just uncover a deeper understanding of yourself and find the healing you’ve been seeking.
Let’s continue to share and normalize these conversations—to embrace our truths without fear of judgment. After all, healing and self-discovery are journeys worth taking, no matter how unconventional they may seem. Everyone’s journey is deeply personal and uniquely their own.
